An 8-year-old girl, Virginia, is told by her friends that Santa Claus doesn't exist. She doesn't necessarily believe them but they insist. It's all very confusing for Virginia.
CLIMAX
Yes Virginia. There is a Santa Claus
Virginia asks many people if Santa is real. She asks her dad as well. None of the answers are satisfying enough. Virginia wants the truth.
FALLING ACTION
Virginia is still unsure of the truth behind Santa. She talks to her dad and he tells her to ask the New York Sun. In the past he has said "if it's in the sun, it's so."
RESOLUTION
After sending a letter to the Sun a response appears in the paper. Francis Pharcellus Church, a veteran editor, is the writer. He states that Santa is real and that her friends are wrong.
After reading the response in the Sun, Virginia believed in Santa Claus for a long time. She told her friends they were wrong. The response gave her a sense of hope and imagination.
SANTA IS REAL!
Virginia went on to do great things. Many people would sent her and her family mail about Santa Claus after seeing the Sun article. Virginia did eventually meet Santa Claus in 1969, two years before her death.
