  • How does your audience recognise that your product is a SKA magazine? (Colour) My SKA magazine sticks to the usual colour connotations of the SKA genre, this consists of black, white and usually a bright/ vibrant colour, used to attract the reader. Black and white was very common in the production of a SKA album, this was due to the black and white tiles which would be used to represent a typical 1900's dance floor. Also the black and white are the colours associated with what the band members use to wear, the iconic black and white suits.

  • so the front cover, double page spread and contents page have all been designed for the younger generation, this appears most when discussing give aways and the use of technology, this is where I may lose older generation readers , however it is important that the magazine stays up to date with daily needs and the ongoing technological advancements and convergence.
  • How does your audience recognise that your media product is a SKA magazine? (language) through out my music magazine he language is very simple , as SKA is a very old fashioned genre which I am trying to revive, meaning the use of old fashioned words may scare off or make the magazine less appealing to the new younger generation of SKA music fans.

  • How does your media product represent a particular SKA product? (props/costume) My music genre is represented through the dress ware of my chosen male models. Both were told to wear black and white professional suits, one of which was told to wear a waist coat , as this would show how the band may have different personalities but the band still sticks to the professionalism of the music industry and the dress code of SKA music. Also the models were placed in multiple different poses which could be used to make the magazine more pleasing on the eye, but it also shows the creative editing of Simply SKA. The poses involve the model looking straight forward which in turn acts as non-verbal communication.

  • How does your audience recognise that your product is a SKA magazine? (age of models)
  • As my music magazine is trying to revive SKA i chose to have two very young teenage models, as this is the new audience i am, trying to address, but the also play the role of two young members of a new band called, ' the missed chiefs'

  • how does your audience recognise your media product as a SKA magazine. (contents) The contents of my music magazine surrounds different SKA themed bands, plus one of my own creation with younger members, to appeal to the new generation. This includes, UB40, MADNESS and The Specials. these are all very well known SKA bands from the 1970s/80s, this will hopefully attract the older audiance as all these bands are still touring, however this should also attract the younger audiance and help them recognise the SKA theme, as these were the most popular bands according to my survey. meaning younger generations are more likley to understand the contents of my magazine and understand that this is a SKA mgazine.
