Storyboard Text

  • This is great! My campsite is all set up. Just one thing...how do I make a fire?
  • The first thing you need to know is if it's safe. Are there any fire warnings in this area?
  • No, the fire warning is low-moderate right now.
  • You don't know how to make a fire? I can help!
  • we're either going to make a mound fire or a rock circle.
  • Look! There are some rocks we could use.
  • Great. Now, since you don't have a pre-made fire pit,
  • Alright, I'll try a mound fire next time I go camping.
  • Alright! This is good, but when possible we should make a mound fire.
  • It's better because it's easier to leave no trace with a mound fire.
  • It seems like we've done everything to prepare. How do we make the actual fire now?
  • We want to leave no impact on the environment when gathering firewood.
  • We need 3 things to make a fire: heat, oxygen, and fuel. The fuel will be firewood
  • Later...
  • To make the fire, we'll start with smaller fuel (tinder) and slowly progress from kindling until the fire is big enough for logs.
  • There are 2 types of fires we could build: the teepee or the log cabin. We'll do the teepee.
