Hi, I'm Njideka Ajunyili, a visual artist from Enuga, Nigeria.
In my home country, the Power Distance is very high. This means people accept hierarchical order and inequalities.
Today I live in Los Angeles, CA, the Uncertainty Avoidance in the United States is similar to that of Nigeria.
Today we will be discussing several aspects of Global Leadership in regards to my home country and my career.
Short Term Orientation
My home country is short term oriented. We have a strong respect for tradition, and focus on achieving quick results.
Nigeria has a score of 80 on the Power Distance scale. This score is similar to countries such as India, Russia and France.
Nigeria is considered a collectivist society. People are expected to have a long-term commitment to the group.
Uncertainty Avoidance is defined by how a society feels about the unknown, or the extent to which a country feels threatened by situations. Both Njideka's home country and her current home score intermediate scores of around 55 on the Uncertainty Avoidance scale.
Thank you reading about my home country and my leadership principles.
Countries with short-term orientation place more emphasize on fulfilling social obligations, safety and harmony, and leisure time.
Nigeria has a score of 30 on the Individualism scale. They place more emphasis on loyalty to tradition, strong relationships and societal rules or obligations.
