This shows a man speaking to some of the people in a Texas settlement. Speaker: This is absurd! The Spanish say we must become like them and join the Catholic faith. They say no more Americans and live in our settlements! What of our families? I have a wife and two children who live in the states. What about them? Why are they to suffer because the Spanish say so? We work and live on this land. This is our home. Who are they to say what religion we belong to, how large our settlements can be, who we are as a person? This is madness! I say we fight for the rights we deserve! For the lives we want to live!
This shows General Santa Anna speaking to his troops. Santa Anna: So the Texans want to have a war. They want to gamble their luck against us. Then we will give them a war. A war like they've never known. Where devastation and death will serve as punishment for this short lived revolution. They will soon learn how wrong they are to think they can defeat me!
The war was deadly. Texans suffered defeats like the Battle of the Alamo to amazing victories like the Battle of San Jacinto. In the end they won. They gained independence and became known as the Republic of Texas. After a while they realized they faced problems they could not solve just as they are. They decided to join the United States. Although problems never go away Texas found a way through them and still stands strong to this day.
