The narrator lived with an old man that had a "vulture" eye. He could not stand the eye and envied the old man because of it.
He watched him for eight night straight. Until it became too much for him to handle. He heard the beating of the old mans heart and it continuously nagged at him.
He leaped into the air with a loud yell and dragged to old man to the floor. He then took a heavy mattress and placed it on the old man to kill him.
He dismembered all the old mans body parts in the bathtub leaving no left over evidence. He took up three planks in the chamber distributing the body parts. He then placed the planks back down so nicely nothing could be suspected.
A neighbor heard the old man shriek so they called the police. The police came and the narrator place three chairs above the body parts, for what did he have to fear? They wouldn't leave after the inspection, so the narrator thought they were mocking his horror so he confessed to the crime.
