Kazi Shamsuzzaman was born in Jadavpur, British India. Before the partition, his family lived in Howrah.
In 1946, a riot broke out in Howrah and their house was looted and burned to ashes.
All the women left and all they brought with them was their jewelry.
Mr. Shamasuzzaman hid behind a tree while his father hid in a graveyard.
The family came to Dhaka Penniless in 1947 and Shamsuzzaman finished his education and became an insurance agent. Him and his family were often discriminated as refugees.
Shamasuzzaman later went back to Howrah (his birthplace) and the house they used to live in was now owned by another family.
