  • In ancient Greece, Democritus believed that everything was made up of tiny particles, and that those particles were smaller versions of the object .
  • In the 1800's John Dalton used cathotubes to come to the belief that atoms were just a negative nucleus .
  • In the late 1800's JJ Thompson used magnets to come to the conclusion that atoms were a mass of rays(plum pudding model.).
  • In 1909 Ernest Rutherford used gold and alfa particles to come to the conclusion that atoms were a nucleus with protons .
  • In 1915 Niels Bohr used calculation to discover orbitals of electrons and created the planetary model.
  • In the 1940's Werner Heisenberg used a microscope to discover quantum theory, and used the "cloud" model.
