Exposition: Rainsford is talking to Whitney about the hunt they will have in Rio. Also, Whitney expresses how he thinks about the hunt. Soon, Whitney goes to sleep. (pg.1)
Conflict: Rainsford hears a gunshot then goes to investigate. He trips and falls off of the Yacht. He swims to an island and meets General Zaroff. (pg.2).
Rising Action: Rainsford meets Ivan as General Zaroff invites him inside. He finds out General Zaroff is very rich and a good hunter. Rainsford eats borsch with General Zaroff (pg.4)
Climax: General Zaroff admits that hunting bores him and is too easy. He says he found a new game to hunt. He plays a game and hunts Rainsford while he hides and tries to survive.(pg.9)
Falling Action: Rainsford is seen by General Zaroff in his bed. Zaroff is surprised that Rainsford managed to survive the hound. Rainsford and Zaroff duel afterwards. (pg.12)
Resolution: Rainsford won the duel with General Zaroff and gets to sleep in the bed. Rainsford admits that it's the best bed he's slept in. It implies he might become Zaroff. (pg.12)
