  • "You got the job, peace out my G." -James Madison
  • During the latter end of his presidency, James Madison appointed William Marbury as the Justice of the Peace in DC
  • "Bet." -William Marbury
  • "Sike, you thought my boy."
  • However, Thomas Jefferson refused to give Marbury his commission
  • Wow.
  • What to do? What to do?
  • The Chief Justice at the time, John Marshall, was perplexed because he didn't want his actions being perceived as biased.
  • Make them give me my job back.
  • Marbury demanded that Marshall issue a writ of mandamus so he could be appointed as a Justice.
  • In the end, Marshall refused the petition because he found that Section 13 of the Judiciary Act of 1789 was unconstitutional.
