  • it is when the rate of the forward reaction is equal to the rate of the reverse reaction (if it is reversible)
  • Equilibrium
  • Good morning class, today we are going to learn about equilibrium
  • Saturated solution: - solvent has reached its max holding capacity of solute at that temp-undissolved solid remains in flask- dissolved solute is in dynamic equilibrium with solid solute particles.
  • How do you calculate equilibrium, then?
  • Easy, you just use this formula:Kc=[C]c[D]/[A]a[B]b
  • C & D are products, c & d are how many moles of products you have
  • A & B are reactants, a & b are how many reactants you have
  • Which stands for Initial, Change, and Equilibrium concentration
  • Very good, you can also use the ICE box
  • You substitute in the values you know, and calculate
