Rough endoplasmic reticulum is an organelle found in eukaryotic cells. The rough ER is the most essential organelle to the cell do to the fact that it plays a vital role in the production of proteins by reading the DNA, without which the cell could not live.
The major functions of Endoplasmic reticulum are: It is mainly responsible for the transportation of proteins and other carbohydrates to another organelle, which includes lysosomes, Golgi apparatus, plasma membrane, etc. They play a vital role in the formation of the skeletal framework.
