  • NASA predicts that in 100 years rain forests will be completely wiped out.  70% of the earth's animal population lives in forests that are being destroyed. There are many rain forests in Indonesia and if they are wiped out the animals will lose their habitat.
  • One of the major causes of deforestation in Indonesia is palm oil plantation. Although they help the economy and government they must think of a solution. Indonesia is planning on planting in degraded land instead of in forests to solve this problem.
  • Forests make up about 84% of Indonesia's total land.  Indonesia has the most mammals in the world, about 515 species and 1,539 bird species. Resulting in about 17% of earth's wildlife in Indonesia and all of those numbers are reducing due to deforestation. Deforestation negatively affects animals in Indonesia by destroying their habitat leaving them with no place to live which has caused in increase in the amount of endangered species.
