  • Alright, lets go collect some men.
  • We should go explore! It is a wonderful day today!
  • Sure! Lets start our expedition.
  • Orders from the President
  • These are my orders: Find all-water routes to the Pacific, you shall also present a peace medal to the tribes, and you must create journals.
  • On the Way
  • It will be necessary to get the help of the Native Americans!!
  • Yes, yes you are most certainly right.
  • The Lewis and Clark Expedition began in 1803 with the purpose to explore a new territory. President Thomas Jefferson had purchased all of the the Louisiana Territory from Napolean of France for 15 million dollars. This purchase doubled the size of the US (828,800 square miles).The expedition was led by Captain Meriwether Lewis, President Thomas Jefferson's personal secretary, and co-led by William Clark, who was an old army friend of Lewis.
  • The President told Lewis and Clark to find all-water routes to the Pacific, to present peace medal to the tribes and to create journals.
  • Lewis and Clark knew that the needed the Native Americans help if they wanted to survive.
