So , after getting the results from your blood test and matching it along with your symptoms, we believe that you may have Hypothyroidism .
What is Hypothyroidism and how did I get that?
Well you have a gland located at the base of your neck, known as the thyroid gland. It releases hormones that regulate your metabolism. These hormones are T3 and T4.
Two glands in the brain, the hypothalamus and pituitary gland communicate with the thyroid gland to maintain the levels of these hormones. Hypothyroidism means that the levels of these hormones in your body are too low.
Hypothyroidism causes several problems in the body and explains why you are feeling symptoms such as: trouble sleeping, fatigue, and depression. Some problems that you may see in your body could also include dry skin and hair, muscle pain, and sensitivity to cold.
Hypothyroidism can be managed with a substitution therapy. Typically we prescribe a daily dose of T4 in the form of a pill that needs to be taken orally. However, these types of medication depend on how the body responds and so we will have to take it one step at a time.
