John Ridge, Major Ridge, and Elias Boudinot all signed the Treaty of New Echota. This provided the removal of the Cherokee Indians to the West.
In 1838 the Cherokee people got forced out of their homes. Then we had to move west. This was called the Trail of Tears. 4,000 Cherokee died on the way to Oklahoma.
