Flight 2370 to London is now ready for takeoff
I know it's hard now, but one day we will thank ourselves for taking this risk.
We arrived in London and felt safe for the first time in a while, our tiny two bedroom apartment feeling worlds larger than the home we once suffocated in back in Iran.
At 38 weeks pregnant, I appreciated the new freedom I felt in London. I was no longer fearful to roam the streets alone, wearing whatever felt comfortable.
Baby Amaya was born on April 9th, 1981, named after my mother who had passed away just a few months prior.
I loved bringing Amaya to the local playground and watching her use her imagination, playing with the other kids without a care in the world.
Our daughter grew up to be a strong, independent young woman who understood where we had come from and what we had sacrificed. She was stubborn just like us and had no problem voicing her opinions.
....In conclusion, the UK's Equal Pay Amendment Act of 1985 allowed women to be paid the same as men for work of equal value...
Great job, Amaya!
