Storyboard Text

  • Howdy. My name is Fern. And I'm going to tell you about photosynthesis because it is so important for you to know  (if you want to pass AP biology)
  • First things first, I'm an autotroph. Meaning I make my own food/energy. I do this through the process Photosynthesis
  • Photosynthesis takes in the reactants: Carbon Dioxide, Water, and Energy from the Sun
  • Then, Photosynthesis uses those items to turn them into the Products: Glucose and Oxygen
  • the Light Reactions are the steps in photosynthesis that convert solar energy to chemical energy
  • there are two stages to photosynthesis. the Light Reactions, and the Calvin Cycle
  • the Calvin Cycle then reduces the fixed carbon to carbohydrate by the addition of electrons. then, using energy the cycle makes sugar
  • the Calvin Cycle begins by incorporating CO2 from the air into organic compounds known as carbon fixation
  • The Thylakoids of the Chloroplast are the sites of the Light Reactions, and the Calvin Cycle takes place in the Stroma
  • Well, there you have it. Photosynthesis. Thanks for listening!
