Please aid us, Anu. Gilgamesh is a mean king and a bad ruler.
Anu created a man-animal that was just as strong as Gilgamesh, called Enkidu, and let him free into the woods.
There was a stranger at the waterhole.....
Gilgamesh and Enkidu eventually ended up fighting, and Gilgamesh won.
There was a king named Gilgamesh. He was very mean to his people. They prayed to the sky god, Anu for help.
One day, they went out looking for adventure, and decided to go to the cedar forest and kill the demon, Humbaba that guarded the forest.
A hunter, while in the woods, saw Enkidu repeatedly at a water hole, and ran back to tell the king.
The love goddess, Ishtar, heard about Gilgamesh and fell in love with him. She wanted to get married, but Gilgamesh turned her down and teased her.
Enkidu accepted him as better, and they became best friends.
After that, Gilgamesh decided to try to become immortal. The old man told him to retrieve the plant from the bottom of the ocean.
Humbaba almost won, but Gilgamesh prayed to the gods, and they helped Enkidu and Gilgames kill the demon. They cut down the cedar wood and built a raft and sailed back back to the kingdom.
Ishtar got offended and sent the bull of heaven to wreck havoc on Gilgamesh’s kingdom. Gilgamesh and Enkidu teamed up to kill the bull, but when they killed it, the gods were angered, and killed Enkidu to balance it.
He saved it for when he got back to his kingdom, but on his way back, a snake stole it. Gilgamesh realized that maybe being immortal isn’t so great as it sounds.
