The narrator lives in the old man's house and takes care of him everyday. He loves the old man but he can't stand his vulture eyes.
The narrator is at war with his own sanity and plots to kill the old man. Although the narrator has nothing against the old man he hates his eye.
For seven nights, the narrator continues to take care of the man, but every night he creeps up to his room and shines a light in the old mans eyes.
The narrator hears the rapid heartbeat from the old man and grows furious. In a swift movement he kills the old man by suffocating him. The narrator then "smarty" dismembers the old man and hides the body in the floorboards.
After the narrator hides the body and cleans up the blood. The Cops arrive because the neighbor heard a scream. The narrator lets them in and acts friendly towards the cops.
While chatting the narrator hears the old mans heartbeat again. The narrator starts to become paranoid believing the cops know and confesses that he did it.
