Storyboard Text

  • In March 1933, the first concentration camps were opened for the Jews.
  • Women to the left, men to the right.
  • Men had their heads shaved and the Jews were put into old, unsanitary small rooms.
  • The prisoners in the camps suffered forced labor, starvation rations and the horrific daily lineups.
  • Many Jews died with the cause of starvation and disease, but gas chambers were also used to kill them.
  • 11 million people were killed in the Holocaust, and 6 million of that number were Jewish people.
  • In 1945, the Soviets liberated Auschwitz and afterwards the US liberated many as well, putting an end to the camps and the tragic war.
