  • We do not like you or your ways! You are not a trustworthy leader!
  • King John angered many of his people by losing land in France. He also rejected an appointment from the Pope so they could discuss getting a new archbishop. Because of this, King John was excommunicated. He also had to accept England as a fief and pay a yearly fee to Rome.
  • I, King John of England, am very clever and greedy. Everyone loves me.
  • Philip II was able to reunite the kingdom after the Treaty of Verdun stated that it the kingdom was to be divided. Philip II had a big impact on the kingdom by paying middle class citizens, granting charters for towns, organizing a standing army, and introduced a brand new tax. He was a very important factor to the kingdom.
  • My name is Philip II or Philip Augustus and I was a very effective ruler for the French.
  • I fight for land!

  • The Crusades started because Pope Urban II in 1095 commanded the Christians to get the holy land back. The fighters fought for many reasons. The Crusades lasted for over 200 years, and many men didn't return home sadly. Salah al-Din helped the Muslims get control over Jerusalem again.
  • Why did I have to work on the trade routes?!
  • The Black Death affected 1 in 3 people in Europe which wiped out about a third of their population. The Black Death was called a bubonic plague which was a disease that fleas on rats carried. The fleas then transferred to people's clothing. Europe's economy decreased in workers and products for people to trade. Because there were less workers, feudalism ended because jobs needed to be taken by whoever was still alive.
  • The Hundred Years' War was between Britain and France. When France was about to lose the war Britain, Joan of Arc, who was 17, got a message from God to come save France. After a lot of persisting to tell Charles VII that she was telling the truth, he let her lead the French forces. Joan was able to encourage the French to fight harder. They started winning more battles with some help of the new technology, such as the cannon.
  • A castle is a very large, magnificent building. This building was used as protection for people from outside forces. It didn't matter what class you were in to be protected in the castle. After the Hundred Years' War, castles started to disappear because cannons have made them ineffective.
