  • Shakespeare describes how he just slaves after his love and it keeps him from living freely, and she doesn't even appreciate it. Over all, he says love can make you a fool.
  • Title
  • When Shakespeare says that he's a slave, he's using a metaphor. When he says he's a fool, he was also using a metaphor.
  • Connotation
  • Theme
  • Attitude/Tone
  • Shakespeare sounds depressed at first, but then at the end sounds more reflective and calm.
  • Shifts
  • In stanza 3, Shakespeare starts talking about his feelings more and the limits his mistress puts on him. In stanza 4, he turns reflective on his situation.
  • At first, I thought it was about someone who feels like a slave in their relationship. After reading, I thought it represented how he was like a slave, but still loves her.
  • Love blinds people and makes them, do things they never thought they would. It can make them do things for people who don't even deserve it.
