Cause: The British won the French and Indian war.
Cause: Proclamation Line of 1763 - Great Britain's acquisition of French territory in North America after the end of the French and Indian War which forbade all settlement past a line drawn along the Appalachian Mountains.
Effect: The British were left in terrible debt because it was expensive to send troops across the Atlantic Ocean.
Effect: New taxes were put into place for the government to collect money from the colonists in order to pay off their debt. They formed the Tea Act, Stamp Act, and Sugar Act.
