  • Cause: Both the French and Great Britain wanted control of territory in North America.
  • This Land is under French rule.
  • NO, Great Britain has claimed this land!
  • Cause: The french built forts in the Ohio River Valley which angered the English/ Colonists.
  • Cause: George Washington and his troops built forts known as "Fort Necessity". His troops suffered many casualities.
  • Effect: Under mercantilism, British colonists took advantage of the fur trade. However, the french viewed the idea differently.
  • Enhance Fur Trade
  • Effect fur trade negatively.
  • Effect: Fighting erupted in 1753 as the British military moved to take over the valley.
  • Effect: Washington surrendered. His defeat in 1754 started the French and Indian war.
