  • The End By:Katie Ball
  • "They were not well dressed, their shoes were far from being water-proof, their clothes were scanty;... But they were happy, grateful, pleased with one another." (649) In this quote, you see that the Cratchits were poor, and didn't have the money to buy nice things. But they were happy, and it shows that just because they don't have money doesn't mean they can't be happy.
  • "What right do you have to be merry? What reason do you have to be merry? You're poor enough." (622) Scrooge is talking to Fred about how Fred should not be happy during the holidays because he doesn't have any money. But Fred doesn't care about not having money. He wants to be happy with all his family and friends during this time of year. It shows that to Fred, money is not everything.
