Daniel is struggling with being newly out of the closet and he is having to face homophobic comments from a boy at his school named Rowan. Daniel deals with this torment daily, but he later finds out that there is a reason behind Rowan's hatred.
It's 7:00am and Daniel spots Alyssa sitting in the front of the school bus. He decides to make his way over to sit with her.
Every morning Daniel is greeted by a homophobic slur from Rowan, and this was just another day where Alyssa did nothing about it.
Hey fag, nice jacket.
Daniel felt discouraged, this happened every day and Alyssa acted like she wasn't able to say anything about it. Daniel was reconsidering his choices in friends.
I am your friend.
It just sucks that you choose to sit there and say nothing when people treat me that way, you're supposed to be my friend.
He decided to confront Alyssa, and she assured him that it was never her intention to make him feel alone, he didn't quite believe her though.
You're such a queer Daniel, why do you even still go to this school.
LOL. So how was everyone's day?
Even after having the conversation with her in the hallway, Alyssa was still doing nothing in situations where Daniel was being bullied. She didn't even defend him in the group chat they were in when people were rude.
The bullying never went away, but Daniel vowed to himself to never hold grudges against those who hurt him, and to raise his standards when it comes to friends. He knows his worth. THE END
