  • Step 1 - Understand sales history
  • Be great to see an increase in sales this week!
  • Step 2 - Sharing the information with his team
  • Here are your budgets for promos and staff for the week
  • Step 3 - Reviewing the previous days sales data
  • Its difficult to see whether adding more staff in paint made a difference, sales are up 5% on last week but that could have been in tiles!
  • Geoff has just arrived at the store on Monday morning and is looking at last years and last weeks sales data reports He's also checking out the weather to see if there are any snow storms today, that could slow down sales
  • Step 4 - Comparing sales to forecast
  • Forecast is looking good, hard to know if we are spending money in the right areas though
  • Geoff gets his team together to discuss the budgets for their departments
  • Step 5 - Analysing weekly data against sales history
  • Really need more information to be able to forecast accurately
  • Tuesday morning Geoff reviews the department sales data with his Staff Supervisor
  • Step 6 - Planning for the following week
  • Geoff reviews the actual sales each day compared to the forecast
  • He analyses the data for the week against the forecast and last year's data
  • The team and Geoff discuss the week's results and set the plan for the next week
