Many people on the boat were developing sicknesses and a young seaman had been "condemning" them for their illness. He hoped to throw them overboard and ironically the young man got very sick and was the first to be thrown overboard.
In this scene the English set out to find a place to settle and they walk one mile along the seaside. While they are walking they see six native Americans with a dog coming towards them. The Native Americans ran away into the forest and the English men followed them.
The English people were very affected by the cld weather. Many people developed diseases and a big amount of their population died in the winter. There were a few healthy people who took care of the sick and brought them food and did laundry.
