Storyboard Text

  • Guy de Maupassant's The Necklace Storyboard by Stuart Porter
  • Despite her life of relative ease, Mathilde Loisel was not content. She longed for fine things.
  • I want nice clothes and and a fancy house. I want to be rich!
  • So happy I borrowed this diamond necklace from Madame Forestier to go with my fabulous dress! I'm the belle of the ball!
  • Mathilde's husband made a huge sacrifice to buy her an expensive ball gown.
  • Mon dieu! What am I going to do? I'll never be able to replace the necklace! I guess I'll be poor forever.
  • Mathilde lost the fancy diamond necklace. How can she and her husband recover from the loss?
  • I hate my life. I hate being poor.
  • Mathilde and her husband borrowed a tremendous sum to be able to replace what they thought was a very expensive diamond necklace. They lived in poverty and worked long hours to repay the debt.
  • *&%$#@
  • Many years later, Mathilde met Madame Forestier, who told her all those years of toil had been needless.
  • The necklace was made of fake diamonds, ma cherie.
