The audience is introduced to Mrs. Linde, a woman who has nothing left after her husband has passed. Nora reveals the Helmers struggles, and the means in which she got money for Torvald's treatment. Nora's self-centered nature if further explored.
It is revealed that Nora went to Krogstad to get the money for Torvald's treatment. Krogstad holds this above her head in order to ensure his position at the bank, threatening to ruin her marriage by telling Torvald & challenging her in court for forging her father's signature. Afterwards, Torvald makes his feelings toward crime known.
