Storyboard Text

  • Gatsby vs. Society
  • All I want is for Daisy to love me, but she never will because of my title in society. Why do people judge me for not being born into money? Can't I make a living on my own?
  • I'm just as wealthy and attractive as Tom, why can't Daisy see that?
  • Daisy vs. Self
  • Should I throw everything with Tom away and return to Gatsby, or is that too risky?
  • I don't know who to choose! I love Tom and he can provide for me but I also love Gatsby and he can make me happy!
  • Dear Daisy, I love you...I think about you everyday....
  • Gatsby vs. Tom
  • Daisy doesn't love you! She loves me!
  • I...don't know what I want!
  • That's impossible! Daisy would never love a new money bootlegger like you!
  • After Daisy marries Tom, Gatsby feels a sense of confusion. He does not understand why Daisy cannot love him for who he is, therefore causing Gatsby to question his success in life. Gatsby's multiple attempts to retain Daisy's love seem to be failing at this point.
  • Both Tom and Gatsby are expressing their love for Daisy at this point in the novel. Daisy does not know whether to sacrifice her love by staying with socially stable Tom, or to risk everything by waiting for Gatsby to return from war alive.
  • When Daisy is forced to choose between Tom and Gatsby, the two men begin to fight over her. Tom knows that Gatsby is a new money bootlegger, so he uses that against him in attempt to win Daisy back. Although Tom is a cheater, Daisy doesn't care because he is financially stable and bears the societal title that she wants.
