Andrew Carnegie is competing with two other men. John Rockefeller, and Cornelius Vanderbilt. These three men are the richest in America.
Carnegie makes steel. Rockefeller works in the oil industry. Vanderbilt owns many railroads.
What! I didn't know this was happening! This is outrageous!
On the outside, America looks great, business is good(for rich people), and the stock market is thriving. On the inside is poverty. That's why they call it the gilded age.
Because storyboard didn't have a train for this time period.
Why is the train so modern looking?
There were many problems in America. Women were oppressed. People were living in horrible conditions. Meat was sanitary. Garbage was everywhere. There were unsafe working conditions.
There were people trying to fix these things. They were called muckrakers. They exposed the corrupt things in society to the upperclassmen. Activists were people fighting for their rights.
Children were living on the streets. The orphan train was invented to give the children homes.
