  • Andrew Carnegie is competing with two other men. John Rockefeller, and Cornelius Vanderbilt. These three men are the richest in America.
  • Carnegie makes steel. Rockefeller works in the oil industry. Vanderbilt owns many railroads.
  • What! I didn't know this was happening! This is outrageous!
  • On the outside, America looks great, business is good(for rich people), and the stock market is thriving. On the inside is poverty. That's why they call it the gilded age.
  • Because storyboard didn't have a train for this time period.
  • Why is the train so modern looking?
  • Ohhhhhhh
  • There were many problems in America. Women were oppressed. People were living in horrible conditions. Meat was sanitary. Garbage was everywhere. There were unsafe working conditions.
  • There were people trying to fix these things.They were called muckrakers. They exposed the corrupt things in society to the upperclassmen. Activists were people fighting for their rights.
  • Children were living on the streets. The orphan train was invented to give the children homes.
