  • The sea lions head out to hunt for their food, which includes anchovies, salmon, squids, and other fish.
  • Scientists study this using Time-Depth Recorders-record the diving activity of marine organisms.
  • However, recently the small marine consumers have been poisoned by the toxic algae they consume.
  • This is the effect of pollution that careless humans leave in the ocean.
  • As a result, the sea lions become sick and the population decreases considerably.
  • Radio Transmitters-gives out a signal that accurately counts the population of a colony.
  • It's chain reaction; killer whales and sharks starve without the sea lions to eat.
  • Hydrophones-detects the underwater vocalizations of marine mammals.
  • Deep Ocean Dumping is a serious issue that must be dealt with
  • If not, it could lead to the extinction of many precious marine animals, including the Californian sea lion.
