On a cold night in January, Kaylee, Julia, and I decided to take Kaylee's golf cart out for a spin. It was already dark, and we had heard scary stories about the golf course, but we decided to go anyways.
"Close your eyes!" Kaylee said. "It'll be fun." Julia and I closed her eyes as we laughed along to the blaring music. All the sudden, a giant gust of wind blew and we came to a screeching halt.
"GUYS." Julia screamed. "Kaylee drove us into the lake!" I sat there in disbelief. The water underneath us was only about three inches, what was the harm? Another gust of wind blew and the cart rocked back and forth. Kaylee pressed the gas and water splashed behind us, but we didn't go anywhere.
"What do we do?" Julia said worriedly. "We should just ditch it and walk back to Kaylee's." I said, freezing cold and wet. "No way, my mom is going to be so mad!" Kaylee said. We had to find a way. I felt the water slowly rising under my feet. Uh oh.
"So, here's the plan. Katie, you get in the cart and hold the breaks down so you don't roll into the lake. Julia and I will get behind and push." Nervously, I held my foot tight on the break while Kaylee and Julia pushed. "Ready." I said, readu to go back somewhere warm. "ONE. TWO. THREE!"
I slammed my foot on the gas and our golf cart splashed and sputtered, and amazingly started moving quickly up the hill. We were saved! Unfortunately, I couldn't see so I had driven the golf cart sideways onto the side of a hill and I fell out, but I was fine! Kaylee and Jula ran over and we all hugged, right before we quickly hopped in the golf cart and made our way home in the cold.
