Alexander the Great was born and raised in Pella, the ancient capital of Macedonia. He served as the king from 336 to 323 BC. During his reign, he reunited Greece and conquered the Persian Empire.
Alexander had died in Babylon in June 323 BC. The end of Alexander the Greatś life was not the end of his empire. They could not let a great achievment go to waste. His generals took the empire among themselves. Then something great happened.
Alexander´s conquests made Greek culture spread throughout Europe and Asia. Greek and many other cultures would come together and mix their cultures. They were then called Hellenistic. Above are people practicing Greek religion together.
