Storyboard Text

  • I  can help you study for the test in the science classroom.
  • I don't know what to study for my science test.
  • Dimitri Mendeleer created the Periodic Table. The table is arranged by weigh groups, periods, and families.
  • So who created the periodic table and why is arranged the way it is?
  • P1 N0
  • Hydrogen
  • Periods  are rows that tell the # of shells and groups are vertical columns that tell the #of valence electrons. These valence electrons can determine the element's chemical properties like reactivity. The less # of valence electrons the more unstable.
  • Then what  are  periods and groups?
  • Hey, guys!
  • 6 C Carbon 12.011
  • All very true. Elements are also classified by metals, nonmetals, metalloids. Metals are shiny and good conductors of heat and electricity where as nonmetals aren't.
  • They determine the element's identity. Each element has a designated spot. It has the element's name, symbol, atomic #, and atomic mass.
  • Then what do protons determine?
  • Yes, lastly there are 5 more group properties. These include Alkali metals, Alkaline earth, metals, transition metals, Halogens, and Noble gases.
  • The further left the less reactive the elements are. Except the closer the element is to Fr & F the more reactive the elements are.
  • Is there anything else I need to know?
  •  Bye!
  • I have to catch the bus home. Bye!
