The church made people give a lot money and food to give up things like land, money, and jewelry to take away sins and get accepted into heaven. That began to make them poor and started a problem. Martin Luther told everyone he believed you needed to counteract the bad sins with good deeds and prayers instead of bribing it off.

One of the greatest inventions and ideas in the Medieval Ages would have to be the printing press. As the wealthy at the time could be the only ones to afford books, they were the only ones who could read and write. Once the printing press was made it created an abundance of books at a cheaper price. Less and less people were illiterate.
That's not what god proposed to forgive your sins! We will have our own church and spread it worldwide!

As another complaint from Martin Luther towards the church, they made Jesus sound very strict and powerful so that if you sinned, big punishments will come your way. Martin believed Jesus was our savior and was here to protect and watch over us.

The Catholic church sold indulgences later during the fight and their sale motivated Martin Luther to show his "95 Theses." This list showed his concerns about the sales the church was making. It was a payment towards the church to buy away a certain sin.The church made them think if they did not pay the indulgences the would end up unforgiving.
All the war and the division between protestants and the catholic church caused a lot of conflict. The church believed that you had to pay and bribe your sins away while Martin and the protestants believed prayer and good deeds relieved your sins.
As a result of Martin Luther's war against the catholic church, this was the cause for the first protestant church. Martin Luther had so many followers and he had to do something to change the way people thought about their religion. Trade spread word and soon many became in the belief of Protestantism.
