Hello, I am a forensic toxicologist. Toxicology is the combination of chemistry and physiology that deals with drugs, poisons, and other toxic substances and how these substances effect living organisms. I have three main jobs. The fist one is I may be asked to see if a persons behavior has been influences by a drug.
I do this through different tests which can be conducted several ways.
Another role of mine is to examine evidence to see whether a suspect has been manufacturing illicit compounds, like cocaine or heroine. Did you know that a true poison can kill someone with a very small amount?
For example, if I want to know if someone has been using an illegal drug, a good tissue sample to test for this is blood or urine.
My third role is that I will look for evidence that a toxic substance has killed a person. I can also do this through various tests, such as a blood analysis test.
Did you know that the best places to collect toxicology samples are where the chemical concentrates, where the chemical concentrates, and long the route of elimination
Now that I think about it, I really am important to crime scene investigations!
