Its a cold winter night and there was an extravagant party, and the host is richest man in town. The person who is attending is Jackson Smith and the rich man is Arthur Jackson's good friend. He arrives late and greets his good friend " what a magnificent party you are really trying to impress the peasants" and his good friend says " the only peasant here is you" and they both laugh, as you can tell Jackson is jealous of Arthur's wealth
As the night goes on Jackson avoids him, he is so jealous he doesn't want to be near him ,but Arthur comes up to him and starts talking about when they were younger, an all of the sudden Jackson lashes out on him saying rude and hurtful things because he is so jealous of him,and Arthur is heart broken and throws him out without even an explanation.
Jackson wants to apologize to Arthur and tell him why he lashed out at him , so devises a plan. He finally has the plan but first he needs to get back in the party, so he sneaks in. He tries to put his plan into motion but he gets distracted by the food, wine and the music and forgets all about the apology.
After the food, wine and dancing he puts his plan into motion. Smith walks up the enormous stair case presents himself, and he says to the crowd "hello my peasants i am your king, neal before me " his arthor runs up the stair case grabs him, but in jackssons drunkin state he pushes arthor down the steps, and everyone holds there breath to see if he is alright.
As jackson stares at the crowd around arthor he ameditaly regrets what he has done to his friend. while everyone is franticaly running to see if he is alright they sadly find out he is not and is DEAD. And jackson begins to cry as al the memories flood into him mind of him and arthor.
Years later Jackson is sitting in a jail cell replaying that dreadful night, and what lead him to do it. Its Jackson's rage and anger mixed with alcohol was not the best combination. Now that his friend has past and he regrets everything he has done the past can not be fixed, as he sits in his cold dark cell he thinks how things could have been different if he didn't get angry over something so small.
