On my very first club volleyball practice, all was well, for about 10 minutes. Then, tragedy struck. As I went up to hit outside, I was feeling great but when I landed, my knee made a loud pop and rotated in. We immediately knew that something was wrong.
My mom told me that we needed to go to the ER right away but I HATED hospitals. That led to me convince her that I was fine even though I couldn't walk.
The next morning, I finally gave in and we went to the ER. I got an MRI and our worst fears were confirmed. I had torn my ACL. They told me that I needed surgery soon, but there was a slight problem. We were leaving for Costa Rica in 2 weeks. Can you guess what we did?
VACATION!!! Yes I did go to the beach on my crutches, and while it was not ideal, I did get a pretty good tan. Then upon my return, I hopped (get it) over to Lurie Children's Hospital to go under the knife.
It was a crisp Thursday morning when they wheeled me into the OR, and I wished I could've been anywhere else. To calm my nerves, they knocked me out to season 1, episode 2 of The Office, (Diversity Day).
Then, five minutes (or a few hours) later, I woke up in a strage room, unable to move my leg. A nurse gave me a strawberry popsicle and then I passed out for like 6 more hours. (best sleep of my life)THE END!
