  • The Boston Massacre was a street fight in front of the the state house, where the colonists threw snowballs, sticks, and stones at the British soldiers
  • Boston Massacre: March 5, 1770
  • A mob of 200-300 colonist formed and they started to harass the British soldier who then called for help.
  • Captain Preston, of the British army, brought with him 8 enlisted British soldiers to help him with the mob.
  • The colonists still continued to taunt the soldiers because they were mad about having to pay the many useless taxes
  • When the colonists began throwing snowballs at the red coats and they retaliated by firing leaving 5 colonists dead.
  • The British soldiers then went to trial and were found guilty for manslaughter.
