Atticus, Jem, Scout, and Dill leave town after a long night. Scout helped bring Mr. Cunningham and his lynching gang to their senses. Atticus brought his newspaper home, and he talked with Jem while Dill carried his chair.
Atticus walks out of the courtroom after the guilty verdict is given. The African American people in the balcony stood up as he left showing respect.
The next morning after the trial, tons of food was piled up at the door. Calpurnia brought all of it in, and they ended up having chicken for breakfast.
"Will you take me home?"
Backstage, Scout fell asleep during Mrs. Merriweather's speech. She entered late, and Mrs. Merriweather said that she ruined the whole show.
When Jem and Scout are coming home from the pageant, they heard a swishing noise. Thinking it was only Cecil Jacobs, they were in for a shock when a man came out running at them with a knife. Scout's dress was left behind along with some scraps of her ham.
After everyone is done discussing what had happened that evening, Scout takes Arthur Radley home.
