Vladek hesitantly led Artie to a room he had never been aloud in before.
This better not be some kind of trick to get me to stay...
Artie looked around the room that he had never seen before. He had thought his father just kept his junk in the attic. But he never could've never looked in anyway because his dad locks it with a key.
That's Anja's stuff over there... well, the stuff I saved.
Artie couldn't believe his eyes. In front of him was a whole bookcase full of his mothers journals.
You see... Anja was always writing. She was the smartest girl I had ever met. I think you get your passion for writing from her... Yes I destroyed some of her journals... but not all of them. I could never bring myself to come up here after she died. This was Anja's favorite room to write in.
They sat there for hours while Artie read Anja's journals to Vladek. For once they got along, by bonding over Anja.
Oh... Uh son here. You can take the journal with you so you can finish reading it...
