Storyboard Text

  • (Hands) One of Lily's favorite hobbies is reading and writing
  • (Head) Lily is worried that the police will file something in he news about her disappearance and she doesn't want to be found
  • (Heart) Lily loves Rosaleen because she acts as a mother figure to her
  • Lily Melissa Owens
  • (Backbone) Lily's best quality is keeping the secret of why they actually came to the house from the Boatwright sisters
  • "People who think dying is the worst thing don't know a thing about life" -Lily pg.2
  • (Left Leg) I think Lily's biggest supporter in the book is Rosaleen because she always supports her and cares for her in every way possible
  • (Left foot) My initial impression of Lily was that she was clueless and lost. All she wanted to do is find answers to her mother's passing
  • (Right foot) As time went on my impression of Lily changed, now I see her as outgoing and eager to get to know the lifestyle of the Boatwright sisters
  • (Right Leg) I think that Lily's mother's death is motivating Lily to try to figure out what actually happened to her
  • "The truth is your mother ran off and left you" -T. Ray pg. 39
  • I think the bees have a major impact on the story because it acts as a symbol for many morals the author is teaching you throughout the book
  • "Most people don't have any idea about all the complicated life going on inside a hive. Bee's have a secret life we don't know anything about" -August pg. 148
  • My favorite passage from the story is when Lily starts to have feelings for Zach because it teaches her so many lessons that are positive to her lifestle
  • I think Zach has a major impact on the story as well because he opens Lily's eyes in many ways. He teaches her that racism isn't right among other things without trying
  • "Well if you have a queen and a group of independent-minded bees that split off from the rest of the hive and look for another place to live, then you’ve got a swarm.”-August pg. 93
