  • Although the Manitoba Act passed there were still many conflicts in the Red River Area.
  • Macdonald sent the "Red River Expedition" to secure the Red River Area from the Americans.
  • The Expedition was not part of the agreement of Riel's government.
  • The arrived men left Ontario to travel to Fort Garry using the unfinished Dawson Road.
  • Riel heard that the Expedition would soon kill him when arriving in the Red River Area.
  • When the troop arrived Riel had already left the area to go into hiding.
