  • The Battle of Trenton and Princeton
  •  On Christmas Day in 1776 General George Washington’s army crossed the icy Delaware to arrive to this battle that was going to take place.
  • So cold.
  • Washington sent a small force of soldiers under General Hugh Mercer to destroy a bridge. 
  • On January 3, 1777, Cornwallis woke to find that his opponent had disappeared, while Washington’s men were close to the end of there march to Princeton.
  • Were did they go?
  • Washington’s men marched to Morristown, where they established winter quarters, safe from British incursions.
  • The Americans took prisoners, arms and supplies but quickly took after winning the Battle of Princeton.
