  • A long time ago, only white men could vote...
  • Until February 3, 1870, then African-American men could vote too! Sorry ladies.
  • Votes For Women! In 1920 the 19th Amendment was passed, giving women the right to vote.
  • But it still wasn't until 1961 that citizens of Washngton D.C. could vote for president.
  • And then, in 1964 poll tax was made illegal when the 24th Amendment was passed. This was great because it allowed poor people to vote too!
  • In 1971 the voting age was lowered to 18.
