Until February 3, 1870, then African-American men could vote too! Sorry ladies.
Votes For Women! In 1920 the 19th Amendment was passed, giving women the right to vote.
But it still wasn't until 1961 that citizens of Washngton D.C. could vote for president.
And then, in 1964 poll tax was made illegal when the 24th Amendment was passed. This was great because it allowed poor people to vote too!
In 1971 the voting age was lowered to 18.
