Glover had to go to a nearby boathouse and take the boats from the owner in order to cross the Delaware. The owner was not too happy about it, but they got the boats and left.
All of the soldiers start to cross the Delaware to get away from the British and to be safe on the other side until the river freezes over. It took hours, but eventually they get over and away from the British.
General Gates and others think that attacking Trenton is just dumb. There is a huge argument and Washington proves to them why it is a good idea and that he is going to do it no matter what.
All of the soldiers leave at night for Trenton, walking miles hoping to catch them at night and surprise them. The walk is long but they make it and soon realize that they are going to have to fight during the day.
The soldiers catch the Hessians by surprise and quickly knock them down one by one, the Hessians try to fight back, but the colonists have a better advantage. The colonists quickly beat them and Rall surrenders.
Rall dies of a bullet wound from the fight, and Washington talks to him before he passes. The colonists have won this battle with no deaths and no injuries. This marks the first victory of many to come for the colonists, leading to our independence.
