a day for remembrance part 3
This storyboard does not have a description.
“Marco!” he heard. He said nothing, he didn’t want to, not now. Now he wanted to remain asleep. “Marco!” he heard again. But still he didn’t reply. “Marco, don’t lose hope now. Not when you have started to get it back” said the voice.
“What troubles you mijo?” Nothing Marco thought to himself. This isn’t real, I’m not explaining myself to myself. Not again.
Finally he came up with an answer.
“But, I never got a chance to say goodbye” said Marco sadly. “Oh Marco” said his abuelo chuckling softly, “I love you. And if that would bring you closure, you can say goodbye to me now.”
“I miss you” he said thinking it was his abuelo, “Why’d you have to go? Why’d you have to leave me?” “I love you Marco, but I haven’t left you. I’m always there watching out for you.” Marco nodded slowly and grumbled to himself.
“Marco!” said his abuelo sternly. Marco sighed and thought back to that day that happened so long ago. Tried to pinpoint exactly what it was that was troubling him.
“Goodbye abuelo, I love you” he said. “Goodbye Marco. I love you. Don’t give up hope” said his abuelo. “I won’t” he said, but his abuelo had already left.
“I wasn’t able to save you” said Marco quietly, “I was there, but I couldn’t do anything” His abuelo sighed, “Mijo, you have a heart of gold, but you were only 10, it wasn’t your job to save me. No one could’ve, but that’s okay.”
Marco smiled sadly knowing this would be the last time he would hear from his abuelo again. Smiled, because his abuelo was giving him the chance to do something he had wanted to do for the past 10 years.
Marco smiled, he got his closure. He went to his dresser, picked up his abuelo’s ring. “I love you” he said to nobody in particular.
